A fifth rationale in opposition is that the death penalty is too expensive or too costly to taxpayers to justify its use. According to capital punishment supporters, many of these reasons of the anti-death penalty movement are false and are now wrongly accepted as fact. The argument that the death penalty does not deter crime is debatable. By executing murderers you prevent them from murdering again. If these people no longer exist then they obviously cannot commit more crimes.

My name is Slick Perry and if you didn’t already know, I am the state governor of Texas. You are all aware that we are reviewing our recidivism rate to various crimes and reviewing our stance regarding the death penalty as we approach 2009. Everyone here understands that capital punishment is a very controversial topic in the United States. These are just a few of the questions people ask themselves when debating the Death Penalty which is arguably the most controversial topic of the United States today.

Every time these words come up, we start yelling out our opinions on what we feel is right. In this time of life, where things have changed to a better world, it still exist massacre, what it’s called death penalty. Debates and political issues have been put into effect to stop this cruel and inhuman punishment. They will give emotional speeches about the one innocent man or woman who might accidentally get an execution sentence. However, all of these people are forgetting one crucial element.

They are forgetting the thousands of victims who die every year by the hands of heartless murderers. There are more murderers out there than people who are wrongly convicted, and that is what we must remember. 3,350 inmates currently on death row. These people include all of the main races in America. In 1965 Robert Massie murdered a mother of two in California during a robbery.
